My bands website will be created using a programme called Iweb. I want the website to be simple with not to many overcrowding images so that the text an be seen, and the viewer finds it easy to see the links to other pages. I want the links to the pages to be across the top of the pages and each page will have the same layout and colour schemes. I have looked at existing bands websites to get some ideas of the kinds of pages i will have on my website. I started creating my website using Iweb and began to add the pages. The home page will contain all of the links to the other pages, and each other page will contain a link back to the homepage. The other pages which i have started to create are; biography which will have information about the artist/band. Gallery which will contain images of the band. Lyrics will be where fans can look at the lyrics of the artists songs. Members where fans can join as a member of the band to speak with other fans. Tour will contain the dates and venus of the bands tour. Shop will be where fans can buy things for example t shirts with the bands name on.

I really liked the existing album covers which just had an image of the artists face quite close up against a plain background. I would like my own album cover to be very similar to these. When i take the photos i will take them in the media studies studio, which i will need to book out. I will take the photos against the large white background, the background colour could then be edited using facebook when i edit the final image. The model i will use to take photos of will be emily springthorpe.

coldplay website...

I liked the simple layout of this website, it was not too crowded and was easy to find things but i also thought that it was slightly boring. There was not alot of colour on the website and there was no images on the homepage. I liked the idea of having a separate page for the latest videos, as alot of the other bands websites which i looked at had clips of videos on the homepage. I thought that this made it harder to find other information and links and made the homepage look crowded.

This is another of my mock album covers. I found this photo on www.pbase.com. I stayed with the idea of just having the artists face on the cover, with a plain simple background because this is what i would like to do as my final album cover. Instead of having a black and white image i edited the image to give it more colour. I experimented and tried out different places to put the text on the album cover, i thought that at the bottom was the best place for this image because it didn't hide any of the artists face. I also experimented with the different fonts and colours of the text and decided to use white text because it contrasted with the dark part of the photo and stood out well.

I have been practising using photoshop and creating some mock designs of an album cover.

I found some photos of people on the internet and have edited them on photoshop and added in some text. I tried out some different font styles.

I found this photo on www.pbase.com. Originally the image was in colour so i experimented by editing the colours. Eventually i decided to have the image as monochrome as it made the image more interesting. I also experimented with the fonts, and different places to put the text, i tried in the centre of the cover, the bottom, but then finally decided to have the name of the artist in a large font at the top, and the name of the album in a slightly smaller font at the bottom.

I liked the colour scheme of this website, they matched the colours on her latest album cover, pocket full of sunshine. There is alot of images of the artist on the home page of the website, the images are quite large which take up most of the screen when looking at the website, i dont think that this is a good idea because the text on the website is small. Also, the links at the top and bottom of the page are not as clear as they could be, the text is quite small, and when i do my own website i would like the font of the links to be bigger and clearer so they stand out more against the other text on the website.
I want to make an album cover in a similar style to the ones which i have already looked at where there is an image of the artists face, close up, and the name of the artist and album. I will take photos of a friend. I will edit the images on photoshop. The photos of her face will have to be quite close up for the CD cover but i might also need other photos from a distance for the website. I liked the websites which had a lot of images of the artists and would like mine to include something like this.

The photos could be taken in many different locations, i would like my artist to be against a plain simple background, it could be a light or dark colour. I will need to take photos of the 'artist' against a plain background and the color of it could be edited on photoshop.

I will edit the photos using photoshop to try and make them look more professional, i want to experiment and try changing the colours of the images, trying black and white, and making the colours in certain parts of the image stand out more than others to see what works best and what styles i like best for my own album cover. when i am happy with the final image for the cover, i will add the text and anything else needed to make it complete.
